What tires do you run on your XJ?
 

Its time to replace the stock Pirelli P Zero Nero AS tires on my wifes 2012 XJL! After extensive research I think I have it narrowed down to the Pirelli P Zero and the Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position tires. We currently live in the DFW Metroplex where ice and snow is not an issue so summer performance tires should work fine. What are your opinions on either of these tires and what you currently running on your XJL/how do you like them?

I have the Pirelli P Zero on my 2013 XJL Portfolio AWD and they are fantastic. They have nearly 10,000 miles now, grip great, comfortable ride and still have plenty tread. They are a significant improvement over the P Nero Zero.

My XJ came with brand new Bridgestone Potenza Pole Positions and they seem to be pretty good, but as I'm new to this car, I'm not sure how much of the good performance is due to the tires or just the car itself.

1bad55chevy, when i bought my XJ (with 33,000 miles), they had just put on some Pirelli P Zero Nero's on it and while they worked, I found that their traction was not the best and any sort of gas being applied from a stand still would cause the tires to break traction. I replaced them with the Continential DWS-06 tires. Much better traction, work good in the snow (the little that we get here in Southern Maryland) and the wear seems better than what the Pirelli's gave me.

I put new S-04s on my old XFR and they were very good, great dry drip, good wet grip, smooth riding and low noise. Once they had worn out I put Continental Sport Contact 5 on and they were just as good and if anything a bit quieter. They have now been superseded by the Sport Contact 6 which by all reports is even better.
When I got the F-Type it had lightly worn P-Zeros on it, and honestly they are one of the worst tyres I have ever had. The dry grip was fair at best and the wet grip was very poor, with noise and comfort just average. I junked them about six months ago and after lots of reading and research I put Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S on.
Long story short the MPS4S are in a different Universe to the P-Zeros and the best tyre I have ever used, period!

I replaced the P Zero Neros with Michelin Pilot Sports AS3+. Love them. Car handles better in the dry and the wet with great ride and low noise.

I’ve had several changes of tyres over almost 7 years on my XJ and after trying and switching to cheaper brands decided last autumn to revert back to the OEM Dunlop’s with the ‘J’ which denotes a special Jaguar formulation.
What a wonderful difference, beautifully quiet by comparison and a safer feel which is difficult to explain.

I have khumo Ecstas and they really are a great tire. I wasn't planning on keeping these sport wheels as I have kasugas on there now with all seasons, but I had these on the car for about a month and I couldn't believe how good they were for the price. The traction and ride were great and they look good too. Definitely worth looking into if you have the ability to run a full summer tire.

+1 on the Conti DWS-06 - they're a good value and I have no complaints. I wanted all-season tires because it gets well below freezing and occasionally snows in Atlanta.

Hi I have recently replaced the supplied Conti's with four new Michelin Pilot Sport 4's and up to now they are performing brill. Much quieter than the original Conti's that were on when I bought my XJL.

Would say the Continential DWS-06 tires are quiet? I have 20" wheels with P Zero Neros and I do pick up some road noise.
A little quieter would be nice:)

So I ended up going with the Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position tire. The tire is SUPER quite and handles much better in the rain!
