Default Why no Cashmere / Gold paint option?

So, I was doing a quick "Build your Own" on the Jaguar USA site. Did not see Cashmere / Gold as an available paint option.

It's my favorite Jaguar paint color and am disappointed that Jaguar is not currently offering the color choice.

The color family of Beige / Gold / Cashmere has been part of the XJ lineup as far as I can remember and to me it looks classy and beautiful.

I've got an Astral Gold Portfolio and was hopping to get a new XJ in the same color family.

What the heck? Why no more Gold / Cashmere / Beige?

Before getting my XJL in November my original goal five years ago was to get the Jag model and year your currently own. As you know your particular Jag model ONLY came in two colors.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you want to get the current model XJ you'll have to pick a color from what is now being offered, or, have one painted in the color scheme you prefer.
However, I can relate to your feelings though because in 2004 I purchased a new Honda Goldwing cycle and the color is Magenta. If I were to buy a new Goldwing I'd prefer Magenta but, 2004 also happened to be the last year this color was offered. Maybe this is the reason why I am still holding onto my Goldwing since you rarely see this color on the highways.
If I can make a recommendation--seriously consider getting the new XJ(L) model Jaguar.

Thanks Retriever,

I guess Gold just isn't a popular color choice these days. Am sure there is a reason that Jaguar did what they did, but kind of stinks. The Topaz Gold on the earlier year XJ's and S-Types, and the Sable on the E-Types are two of my favorite colors.

As for my 2009 Portfolio, I think it's going to be a permanent keeper. I love it and regularly clean it with a "diaper". It onlt has 12,000 miles and is in mint condition. Plan to enter it next year at Jaguar concours events.

Too bad, I think that Cashmere is, indeed, one of the most beautiful and classy colors. I love it on my XJL and also appreciate that dust or dirt simply does not show on it, as opposed to my two black Jaguars which are nearly impossible to keep looking clean and shiny.

When we purchased our XF, there was on in Cashmere car on the dealer's lot but, we did not like the interior colors. So, we ended up with black which is a nightmare for trying to keep it clean, particularly at this time of the year, being surrounded by huge oak trees that shed their fine, yellow pores for 2 months every spring. 5 minutes after the wash the black looks filthy while the Cashmere looks just fine.

Don't know if this is still available, but you used to be able to order a non standard paint color for $1000.00 Have you asked a dealer if that is still possible? Because I see that for UK and the Bahamas they offer a Quartzite color.

By non-standard color, your referring to any custom color Jaguar will do for $1,000 beyond the current 12 color choices?

Just wanted to be clear.

I did not know Jaguar had such a program. I'll check with my local dealer.

Please keep it if at all possible; 2009 was the last year for your style of portfolio and that is a beautiful automobile. Originally I had looked into buying a 2006 Portfolio but it didn't work out. Then I began to focus on the 2009 Portfolio--I was always looking on Ebay and then would do google searches but I guess it just wasn't to be. Now, I have my XJL Portfolio and although it is not a daily driver, I think it's a great automobile.
Good luck at the Jaguar concours event.

Michael,

I think you've answered your own question here. Jaguar are deliberately trying to get away from their old image. The gold car with two sets of golf clubs in the luggage compartment is a part of this image and formed part of their advertising for many years.

Another part of the Jaguar image is a reputation for unreliability and they are even keener to lose that!

Graham

Good point Graham. Did not think of that at all and makes some sense. But still.... kind of a bummer.

The quartzite on the new XE appears to be the closest thing to a Beige / Sable color.

The older models did, but for me (just personal opinion) it looks horrible

Would have to disagree.

The Gold in the previous model XJ Super V8 Portfolio looks fantastic.

Maybe on the older one, I don't know, for the XJ X351 my "personal preference" on gold would be yuck, but I can understand others might like it.

My only thinking as to why Jaguar would not include it as an option is, they have millions spent on experts in user experience, user design, colours and customer satisifaction and probably decided against it for some valid reason. My gut feeling is Gold kinda sanctifies the "older man" stereotype look for Jags and with the newer shapes they are going for a more fresher look.

Me likes white!

Classiest of color. Or go black, the black xjl driving the royals around on election night spoke big class.

Class is selecting a color that bears no risk of ever being discontinued. Standards. The mere fact that the color is no longer offered speaks to it's lack of staying power. Dispensable.

However...

There was a limited edition Portfolio Edition some time ago I saw at a dealer in a color called "Black Cherry" It was stunning....metallic black with red flake! I loved that discontinued color I tell you.

white
black
BRG
silver
gray

In a current XJ? I've only seen that colour in special edition older model XJ's. Would love to see it on the current body.

I believe the Black Cherry was on either the 2005 or 2006 XJ Super V8 Portfolio.

It was a really nice color.

You are correct. According to the GT Car lot site, the 2006 XJ Super V8 Portfolio came in the Black Cherry color.
