Default Will XJ 2016 headlamps fit XJ 2015?

I was planning to change my XJ 2015 headlamps due to some fade and was thinking to replace them with headlamps from 2016 model. Will they fit and work properly?

No.

Edit: Now I re-read that, it isn't as helpful as it could have been. A fuller answer is that they aren't plug-and-play replacements, you will need a new loom, and even then you won't get full functionality.

Yes we have extensive threads on this. I did it to my 2014 XJR and it was a great modification/update! I am coming up on 6 years now and everything is still working fine.
Note it requires a fairly complicated wire harness and some special electrical pins. But they physically bolt in with no mods.

Do be aware as I don't know where you live but you need to purchase the right lights for your market. US or EU are different.

There was a guy making them with all the modifications done inside the headlight itself so those are plug and play. Don't know if they are still out there or not? More expensive than the DIY harness but WAY simpler to install for sure! His contact info is listed in the thread but with it being several years old not sure it's still good?

I want to thank Xdave, ABrice and OBC John again for their in depth and very detailed instructions. I would have NEVER figured out the wiring otherwise.
My 2014 XJR has full functionality and have the AFS stuff too. My one complaint is the LED "J-Blades" are not as bright as I would like. There is a later mod to fix that but I have not taken the custom harness out to update it yet.

Do static cornering lights work?

I thought that they were excluded from the upgrade functionality.

Thanks for the reply. I live in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. I have zero knowledge of auto DIY so wanted to ask when you say "Note it requires a fairly complicated wire harness and some special electrical pins"; are these sold in market or ebay? Or do they need to be crafted?

Thanks again.

Mine work but you do bring up a good point as there are/were several people selling lights that are internally converted and there are some aftermarket harness's that have differences too. Yes some people have had problems with that and the AFS stuff.

I made my own harness as none of that was available when it first started. Not sure if the converted headlights are still being sold either? In that long thread I posted we had a guy in the UK getting some custom harness's made with the relays package nicely after it was all figured out. I never heard if they got that going as I would have purchased a set. Mine work fine but it is a bit of a rats nest with like 36 wires and 3 relays per side!

Sorry Kamranki I did not answer your question.

At this time I don't know if Sam is still operating or if OBC John can post back because it's been several years?
In that thread the special plug and pins needed from Simtek in the UK were listed. I ordered my stuff from them.
They are nice because they match the factory Jaguar stuff.

Thanks George05! Yes I forgot that Jess passed away and that ended all the harness talk. He was a skilled electrical guy and loved to figure that kind of stuff out.

As I posted above he made some top notch head light harness's that I had hoped to buy. He also helped with the remote trunk open upgrade when people started having problems with the current vendor.

I'm also looking to upgrade my headlights to LED versions at some point. I've read the main thread(s) regarding the swap and have the view what to do and expect. Did the "Final Wiring" at the end of main thread fix the brightness issue, together with AFS error or was that a different fix? I consider bright J-blades if not the most important, at least second important part of the upgrade, so it has to shine.

Also, I'm a bit confused as the wiring harness you guys crafted did not include a long single wire into fuse box but some of the ebay harnesses do. What's the function of that wire?

My VIN decoding says I have "Adaptive-Xenon-Headlamps" but to be honest I have never seen them swiveling on the road nor at start up. Can I verify it via diagnostics (iCarsoft) to list all comm modules to see if the module is there? Hmm, maybe I can even run an output test for the motor.

Hope to find a source for LED headlights still. There has been Waheed, Sam etc in the UK delivering these back then but I guess it's AliExpress today...

Can you post what car you have? The headlight options changed over the years so you might not have AFS?
As you found this does not have one simple answer and it's been done several ways and they are all a bit different.

It's an Euro spec 3.0D MY12.

I do have cornering lights at least. I didn't have time yet to search for different modules but will do that shortly.

The only module that I could find related to headlights, was 9X23-14C243-AA "Headlight leveling control module". No output test available other than leveling calibration. So, I quess no AFS then. I would like to keep cornering lights operational but I guess that required lamp to be opened violently. That said, I recall someone saying that you can open the lamp with heat but you need to be good. That's a good advice at least.

Does someone has any comment on these:

Did the "Final Wiring" at the end of main thread fix the brightness issue, together with AFS error or was that a different fix?
Also, I'm a bit confused as the wiring harness you guys crafted did not include a long single wire into fuse box but some of the ebay harnesses do. What's the function of that wire?
