Drip Rail, Rain Gutter Removal Advice

Hi,

I'm trying to do a small paint repair on the A Pillar on my '96 X305

I'm debating about just masking off the area where the drip rail is on the pillar but just curious from other owners.

Is this rail easy to remove? Or is it not worth risking it? In case I cause damage.

I was looking at the service manual last night, I see it's a moulding that clips over the metalwork, but due to the design I'm not sure how easy it would be to remove.

Thanks in advance.

Andrew.

G'day Andrew,

I haven't taken the gutters off my car but here is a diagram of how they attach, it looks like they just ease off sideways. Bear in mind there will probably be rust under the finisher and you small job might turn into a large one.

Hi,

Yes that was the same diagram I found as well.

It looks like they go on easy enough but that metal profile makes me think they would be a pain to remove without possibly damaging the bodywork or bending the metal out of shape too much.

Thanks for the reply anyway, I'll probably stick with what I'm doing so far, looks fine at the moment :)
