Help! Time sensitive
Hello all, I’m going to cut to the chase. I own a 96 XJ6 and a 2003 XJR I’ve been keeping my eyes open for an XJ12 and one has fallen into my lap. The car is near mint with 52,000 miles. The seller wants $6.400 and I could probably talk him down under $6,000. $5,000 is really where I’d like to be. Any advice for me out there in Jaguar land? This is very time sensitive. Thank you all in advance. John |
Advice on the car? Or advice on talking him down to $5000?

Advice on price! Please |
Ouch! They are heavy aren't they?
I'll assume we are speaking of a 95 or 96 model year X305. That's not a bad asking price for a 52k example. But it is still 23 years old and it is still a Jaguar V12. Current condition and proof of services performed might justify that price. But, it should be fairly easy to look at present needs and leverage a price break. Start with the tires. Then check the battery's age, find out if it's time for an oil change. Does the A/C work? Any cooling system repairs made? When you drive it do you notice any suspension noises? Those things alone should earn you a discount. Not much different than other cars really, except... this is a 23 year old Jaguar V12. Not to mention that the market for these cars is thin, mainly because it is a 23 year old Jaguar V12! That also works in your favor. No one seems to know what they're missing! |
