Help! Time sensitive

Hello all,

I’m going to cut to the chase. I own a 96 XJ6 and a 2003 XJR I’ve been keeping my eyes open for an XJ12 and one has fallen into my lap. The car is near mint with 52,000 miles. The seller wants $6.400 and I could probably talk him down under $6,000. $5,000 is really where I’d like to be. Any advice for me out there in Jaguar land? This is very time sensitive. Thank you all in advance.

John

Advice on the car? Or advice on talking him down to $5000?

Cheers

Ouch! They are heavy aren't they?

I'll assume we are speaking of a 95 or 96 model year X305.

That's not a bad asking price for a 52k example. But it is still 23 years old and it is still a Jaguar V12. Current condition and proof of services performed might justify that price. But, it should be fairly easy to look at present needs and leverage a price break. Start with the tires. Then check the battery's age, find out if it's time for an oil change. Does the A/C work? Any cooling system repairs made? When you drive it do you notice any suspension noises? Those things alone should earn you a discount. Not much different than other cars really, except... this is a 23 year old Jaguar V12.

Not to mention that the market for these cars is thin, mainly because it is a 23 year old Jaguar V12! That also works in your favor. No one seems to know what they're missing!
