'05 XJ8L driver seat wont go all the way down or all the way back..??
Howdy Team,
I have a little problem with the Driver's Seat in the '05 XJ8. The electric seat mechanism when being moved backwards stops before reaching the end. Likewise, it will not go down as far as it should. The motors in question work, in that they go up and down and front and back just fine - they just don't reach their full final destination! Once it goes as far is it wants to go, the motor makes an attempt, clicks, and the mechanism beneath "lurches" a tad, giving the impression it is somehow blocked or jammed from going where it wants to go. A visual inspection, as far as a flash-light aided eye can see, reveals no objects obstructing the seat or the rails within. Anyone encounter this? What's the magic fix? Thanks.

Agree with H20boy. When I first got my XJ8L, the driver's seat rear up and down was frozen all the way up. Undid the hold down bolts (the rear ones have to have the covers popped off, easy) and laid the seat back toward the rear. There is enough slack in the harness for you to do this without undoing the plugs if you ease the seat forward while laying it back. You don't want to possibly disturb the airbag in the seat itself, so I prefer leaving it plugged in. The cause ended up being an over tightened screwjack possibly due to being in the uppermost position for so long. Carefully cracked it loose by undoing the motor mount bolts and giving it a tweak and then buttoning it all back up. Been working like a charm ever since.
I hope yours is at least as simple.
