2004 xjr-electric parking brake problem
Has anyone personally replaced their electric parking brake? I have had the fault for awhile and replaced the switch( by the gear shift) then the ecm and finally getting ready to replace the actual brake. Mechanic applied power and the motor made noise but no movement. We tried the new one( from wrecking yard) and it moves both ways.
This thing seems to sit above the differential and looks like loads of fun to get to. Is there a you tube anyone has seen or some sort of information I can pass along ( he not a Jag mechanic) or if he isn't willing to tackle it, what I'm in for in doing it myself. Thanks

Hi Grio,
I have the same symptoms on our '04 XJR. The actuator motor runs in both directions when powered directly, but the primary cable doesn't move. I have not yet removed the old actuator, but the instructions begin on page 701 of the Chassis section of the Workshop Manual, which you can download in six sections from this forum:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/md...f+contents.pdf
http://www.mediafire.com/download/aa...nformation.pdf
http://www.mediafire.com/download/n3...2.+Chassis.pdf
http://www.mediafire.com/download/9b...Powertrain.pdf
http://www.mediafire.com/download/0i...Electrical.pdf
http://www.mediafire.com/download/4j...+and+Paint.pdf
Use the search function to see if any Jaguar Forums members have replaced their EPB actuators. Check the S-Type forum as well as the X350 forum since they are similar.
I know that jagsongas at the Jag-Lovers X300 forum (jag-lovers.org) has done it if you want to check with him (Steve) for any tips.
Cheers,
Don
