Question 2004 XJR Intermittent Air Suspension Fault Left Rear Stiff

Hey guys... before starting, I did search the forums and could not find any other person having the same problem I am having, hence the new thread.

I have an odd intermittent fault coming up more and more often. It's the "Air Suspension Fault". Sometimes I can't tell that there is anything wrong, but more and more often, the right rear corner is jacked up like a 70's hot rod. Actually the whole rear is jacked up, but I can tell it's the driver's side causing it. Besides looking funky, it's causing a rock hard ride, and no more open drinks in the car.

I removed both rear height sensors and tested them with an ohm meter. I had difficulty getting either one to show any varied resistance, but they both checked out exactly the same.

When the rear is all jacked up, my compressor is running constantly, and the pressure relief is "exhaling" about once a minute, so it seems to be functioning correctly.

It really seems like a height sensor to me. I'm wondering if I could swap out the left and right sensor to see if the problem switches to the other side? I think they are identical sensors, just different brackets.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

not sure where my sig line comes into play... but:

Sounds like a height sensor problem, or height calibration is awry. Have you had the fault codes read yet ?

No, I haven't. I tried 3 different auto parts stores, and none of them could read Chassis codes. Do you think swapping the height sensors in the rear would be a good method of troubleshooting?

Yeah, it's just the brackets that are different. I actually have a sensor with the right rear bracket still attached to it that is good. I removed and sold the other ones when I converted my car and it's the one I have left.

Default Update problem fixed.... sort of.

Thanks to Torrid for providing me a good used sensor, I have gotten rid of the maxed out left rear corner. I still get an occasional "Air Suspension Fault" warning, but haven't had any symptoms. With the weather getting below freezing here, it's time to stop being concerned about the warnings, as they tend to get a mind of their own at sub freezing temps.
Thanks again Torrid.

Your compressor seals could be on the way out. Has the compressor ever been replaced ? If you have fault code C0203 this indicates compressor is failing to charge the reservoir in the allowed time.
