More than 90 less than 200, however, those speeds are illegal.

I believe the limiter is set to 154 mph.

Just looked at my Range Rover Sport that I just purchased and it had the speed warning set to 154 mph!!!

I had my 06 XJR up to 155mph the other day. So, should do up to 155mph.

How is measured that 154 mph to trigger the limiter?
Is it calculated from the number of wheel turns per second, or from the odometer indication?

I believe that my 2005 Jaguar XJ8L has a maximum speed of 155 mph (or at least that was what I was told some years ago). With that being said, the suspension system was converted over to Arnott coil/springs about four years ago so such velocities now would be problematic at best. I did take it up to 110 mph a couple of times in the past, but at that point, my hands began feeling 'greasy' so I backed off shortly afterwards.

They will sit at 140 all day long but as mentioned above the limit should be 155 , I did hear that if you held it from going into top gear then it overrides the limiter, not sure if this is correct as I have not tried it.

I have had mine up to a indicated 260km/h (162mph) on the autobahn, definitely could feel the limiter kicking in. Keeping it in 5th with sport mode made no difference...

Well, want to find out? If you're in Europe take it to the Autoban most drivers there know how to reacted with other fast lane driver, here in US many think they own the road, and thinking "I'm driving at legal speed!" drive like a turtle on the left lane. So go to dragstrip to find out your top speed, on public road those drivers will make you nervous and crash your car before you get to top speed.!

The typical self limitation by European OEM is 250km/h, that would fit to the observed 155 .. 160 mph, given the accuracy of the speedometer.

It's not illegal everywhere - as I sit in Mainz, Germany having just commuted in @ +200km/h in my VW Phaeton.

True - thought the OP is in USA where such speed is illegal (on road).

I guessed that too - however, poster 'David' shows his location as 'Planet Earth' - so such a broad speed statement would not apply to his 'home location'.
