I was becoming concerned about the clouding of my headlights due to Texas weather and after some research I purchased from Amazon.com the 3M headlight restoration kit (For Drill use) for about $9.50.


I read and reread the instructions and stripped down the front of the Jag to remove the lights (there really is no need to, but I wanted to update my earthing points behind the lamps at the same time and respray my grill black).

The whole process took about 1 hour as I had to keep my battery operated drill plugged in and charging.

The results speak for themselves.


Original headlights (both yellowed and bad!)


Removed headlights. Cleaned and sanded with P500 grain.


P800 Grain sanding.


P3000 Grain sanding.


Cut polish and wax treated. Finished headlamp.


Old and new lamp comparison.


Both lamps cleaned and like new.

Used the Meguir's kit.orked well also. I am using the Protection liquid on the headlight on a Sequoia and an A8. Reapplied the protective liquid about every three months and the headlights still look fine after 18 months.

 

Mine came with 2 bottles, polish and protective liquid two.
There's plenty left in both bottles, Will do the same as yourself
in reapplying in a couple of months.

 

I've got to do this soon. Just had a bit of haze show up towards the top of the lens.
