Air Suspension Fault B1471 / what to do

Air Suspension Fault B1471 / what to do
Dear fellow enthusiasts,
due to an unpaid bill I was given a 2006 Jaguar X350 4.2 liter V8, VIN H0157x.
This car has high mileage (210,000 mls / 330.000 km) and I would not have bought it voluntarily. However, now it's mine...
Now I'm sorting out the issues. My main problem right now is an air suspension fault.
I'm getting the amber warning light, the message and code B1471 (headlamp circuit - open circuit or short to ground)
This code appears immediately, either headlamps on or off.
I removed the ground connections (3) behind both headlamps and cleaned, no change.
The air suspension control unit had been removed and tested by the PO a while ago, result was it's ok. According to the workshop manual (test G256924p2), I checked the wiring between the the air suspension control unit and headlamp connectors, tested ok as well. Then continued with tests G256924t3 and G256924t4 to check the wiring, finding everything to specs.
The workshop manual concludes to contact dealer technical support, duh.
What should I do next? Could the HID-headlamp leveling actuators be the culprit? Is there any way to check these? Are they available separately?
Or is there another way how I could tackle this issue?
Thanks in advance for your assistance
Stefan

Wie gehtes?
I am no expert on codes because I never get them!
I assume that after you clear the code it reappears?
The electronics on this Jag can do some funny things.
You could try rebooting the Jag ie remove both battery
leads and touch them together for about one minute.
You will need the radio code and reset the windows
afterwards.
If the code come back then maybe it's real.
Someone more experienced will be along in a minute.

Hello meirion1,
Thanks a lot for your suggestions.
Yes, I have cleared the codes several times, and the battery has been disconnected as well.
The code is always back immediateley.
I think it is related to one or both of the headlamp units. I will remove them later today to have a look.
Vielen Dank / many thanks

Thanks again for your suggestions.
I removed the headlamps yesterday.
My 2006 MY vehicle (produced 12/2005) has no leveling actuators.
The pin positions are blanked out in the headlamp housings.
The wiring loom and the ASU-control-unit still contain the pins/wiring.
It seems that the ASU-control-unit has been changed with a used one or the configuration is not correct, otherwise it would not expect a leveling system to be present and set the code.
Will report back when there's news to report.

The ballast seems to be the culprit. One of the Libra to the ballast controls headlight height adjustment. 31by151 had this issue. He posted about it earlier this year if you can search for it. I believe I may have the same issue just haven't pulled the codes myself to verify. I think he mentioned that if you turn on the lights and the light does not dip and adjust that is your culprit.

BlackKat,
thanks for mentioning that thread. I have talked to 31by151 about the subject via private messages several days and he has been extremely helpful.
He advised to have the air suspension module flashed and reprogrammed.
I brought the car to one of the biggest Jaguar dealers around and talked to the technician, he knew what I was talking about and did the flashing/reprogramming. All went well and the warning message went away.
It seems that either the module itself or the software has been tinkered with, and was a version which expected the headlamp levelling to be present, which wasn't the case in my car. Therefore the warning message.
Cost was around 200 USD.
Thanks again to all who answered, kindest regards
