Airbag warning light and seatbelt warning alarm

I don't know if it is related or just a coincidence but I started getting flashing ABS light (2 flashes followed by 5 flashes (can't find what that flash code is)). Then, when someone sits in the front passenger seat, the "seatbelt not buckled" alarm goes off.

Any ideas? Is the seatbelt alarm something as simple as the switch in the seatbelt bad, or is it something more complicated?

Thanks.

Gordon

I'm hoping someone can give me some ideas, especially regarding the "seatbelt not fastened" alarm when someone sits in the passenger seat. Right now anyone riding in the car has to sit in the back seat or we listen to that incessant alarm even though the seatbelt is in. I've got to take a short road trip in a week and I'd hate to have to take it into the dealer or indi if there's something obvious that happens, such as a connector at the seatbelt fastener that gets loose.

Thanks,

The seat belt alarm can be disabled.

See here:

Good luck

There are the ultrasonic sensors in the roof to detect the presence of a body in the seat and I think a weight sensor in the seat. Was any roof work done? I think the weight switch can have problems.

Dumb question, but on the SRS light, when it blinks 2, followed by 5, does that mean 25?

Haven't tried to turn off the seatbelt alarm yet (buried today with work and doing honey-do's). Hopefully the process works on US versions (since the US government happily keeps us from doing much of anything to our cars)....

Anyway, we'll see.... :)

No work done on the roof, etc.. It would seem like the seat belt switch or harness might be a problem since it doesn't seem to know when the seat belt is buckled. I'm going to look under the seat to see if there is anything obvious like a pulled wire, etc. But I'll see if there is any problem with the seat wiring.

Yes, it would be 25. Flash codes are in one of the codes PDFs (in JTIS) as I recall.
