Default Aux-in --can you sacrifice the CD-changer to make an aux-in jack?

Is it possible to remove the CD-changer in the trunk (2004 XJR) and replace it with a third-party device of some kind that will plug into the X350 audio system just as the CD-changer did EXCEPT... instead of having a CD-changer it has a auxiliary input jack to plug in a tablet/mp3 device?

The ACM module seems hard to find and the installation a little much for someone that does not know these cars at all. (Maybe I'm wrong on this count. If someone in L.A. area wants to help, I'd appreciate it.) I thought that if I'm willing to take out the CD-changer this might give some advantage. Maybe I could run an aux cable from the trunk to the mid-console without it looking too bad.

Any thoughts?

I am not sure what you would accomplish by removing the CD-changer as the CD-changer attaches to the head unit by way of a Jag proprietary fibre optic link which you are not going to find on any other devices.

Thumbs up Adding an AUX port without butchering your JAG . . .

Reference my post to provide an alternative AUX solution:

Are there devices that will accept the fiber optic link and allow an auxiliary input? I'm sure Jaguar is not the only maker to use this fiber optic link. I remember reading that Mercedes or someone else uses that same system.

Does anyone make a component that will replace the CD changer?

Thanks, I did see your post in my searches of the Forum. I think its a good solution for many, but I'm hoping to get something played over the car's existing speakers and through the system so you would never know that the stock system has been touched.

The Satechi Soundfly AUX does exactly what you are describing and more. It can even be integrated with the Jag's AUX inputs via the rear multimedia pack . . . without modifying any of the Jag's original equipment! My only problem is navigating 2,000+ selections

via Amazon . . . You can always send it back if it doesn't meet your needs . . .
