I know JTIS says cover must be removed, but it would be nice if that could be avoided. Has anyone done this?

It's not that hard to get the cover off. Well, the front at least, I haven't had the back off yet but it shouldn't be too hard.

I replaced one of my rear sensors pretty easily. Didn't need to remove the whole bumper, I just undid all the fasteners on the back of it, and the one side I needed off. Pulled it back far enough to reach in there and get the job done. In my case it was an outside sensor, but I imagine one of the inner sensors would be about the same. Removing the whole bumper isn't that much more work so really IMHO you can do it either way.

I accessed my RR sensor by removing the tail light assembly. You can't see it from above directly but with a mirror I believe you can. I found my "bad" sensor was merely disconnected so I still have a spare I purchased on eBay in not quite the same color. Folks say the rear bumper cover is not that hard, but I bet removing the tail light is easier, and checking and re-seating the lamps in mine eliminated a code I was getting for the RR stop lamp.

Ah yes I forgot to mention I had to take out my left tail light to get better access to the sensor. Bumper still attached on the right side of the car.
