Changin out the coolant expansion header tank

Changin out the coolant expansion header tank
Can anyone point me to some guidelines/notes etc on changing out the coolant expansion tank? The XJ8 (X350) is coming up on 5 years and I read on this and other fora of failures of the header tank, so I was going to proactively change it out. It's pretty annoying that Jaguar haven't managed to solve this issue, both my 00 S-types failed....
I've just had to put a new set of 18" conti tires on the rear, the old ones did 45K miles so not too bad!
For the 50k service I'm going to get the following done:-
Coolant flushed and changed
Brake fluid replaced
Gearbox AFT oil changed
All filters replaced (air, gas, cabin)
Anything else????
Thanks
- Tim

Mine broke two weeks ago. The plastic thing where the breather hose goes, just snapped.
I replaced mine, but it was not fun at all. There is one bolt that holds the tank, you have to remove the breather hose, the electrical connector for the fluid level and another hose from the bottom.
That last one was a bitch. I had to remove the hose that goes in the radiator to get some access to the spring clip. Use a flat screwdrived to "open" the spring clip about half an inch to the right (assuming you are standing in front fo the car looking at the engine). Make sure the spring clip does not fall off.
The electrical connector also has a button you have to push and then it can be removed.
Overall it was not a pleasant thing to do. Try asking the dealer to do it.
I'm still not quite sure I put that hose on the bottom quite right. There is no obvious leak, but the effort to remove it was much more than the effort to put it back and I'm still loosing some coolant.
