Default Changing headlight level, temp of heated seats and alarm notification sounds

Hello all,

I recently purchased an '07' XJR and have a few questions.
Is there a way to change any of the following without having to take it to the dealer?

Headlight level (I understand that the suspension keeps it level, but the initial projection height is too low and on very dark roads I can't even see road signs until I am on top of them. I never had this problem in either of my other XJRs).

Temperature of the heated seats. (My two previous XJRs got so hot that I never put it on the highest setting but like that fact that I could. I can barely feel the seats in this car).

I would like the car to alert when the alarm has been activated or deactivated. (I frequently have to activate and deactivate the alarm when I can't see the car. I would like for it to give an audible alert).

Thanks,
Robert

Hi rlwpromo, did you find out how to turn on the alarm notification? I have 08 xj8, and can't find a way to turn on the audible alarm.

The air suspension system does keep the headlights levelled, but the initial setting has to be initialised at the factory by manual settings, (I assume !), so if this is not correct, no matter what the air suspension system may do, the aim will be wrong.

I am puzzled why yours is wrong, unless somebody has been fiddling around. You say you cannot see road signs until you are on top of them; is this on dipped or main beam ? On mine the main beam is like a searchlight, and dip is more than adequate !!

There is a screw on top of each headlight housing that can be turned to adjust the headlight levels. It is very quick and foolproof! Just adjust it bit by bit until it seems normal to you--don't worry about all this nonsense of factory settings.

I had the same complaint about the seat heaters. They only get warm and slowly at that. Jaguar says that is normal.

It is possible that when someone changed bulbs they put them in backwards. That was the issue I had when I first got my car. The lights were hitting the ground 10 feet in front of the car. Removed the bulbs, rotate 180 degrees and reinstall.

Audible alarm when you lock the car is a setting your dealer can do when you are hooked up to their computer. It is the same lame "beep" that you get when you try to lock the doors with one of them open. You will not be able to hear it more then 50 feet away.

The heated seats? They just suck.

Interesting comments about the heated seats. Mine heat up very quickly (within 1 or 2 minutes they reach the max temperatures). They never get hot enough to make it uncomfortable, but they do get nice and toasty.

Sorry for not being able to check this in a long time.

I will try checking the bulbs because that sounds exactly like my problem. The intensity of the light is there but it is sitting right in front of the car.

I'll have to have the dealer do it then. My car is under the deck of my house and I can't see the flashing if I need open the door from inside. Plus I like knowing that when I hit the button it did something even if it is faint.

I like it very hot in the winter time and my previous '04' XJR seats would set me on fire when on the highest setting. My girlfriend never put it above the second level because it was too hot for her. In the '07' she can turn it to the highest level and sometimes wants a little more which means I do have a hamster blowing its hot breath on me because I am still freezing. From what I have read I thought there when this is set by the dealer that the computer actually gives you a temperature range like the preset hot water knobs in the shower. I guess when I go in for the alarm and checkup I will have them try to fix it. I really don't think it is a standard thing though because it is night and day between the previous XJR and this one.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone! :-)
