2004 XJR (XJ8). Mine were blown. These work a treat and are under $20 a pair. Five mins to fit.

As far as I could tell, they were the same as the originals & continue to work like new after a couple of years.

The original equipment lift support struts were Stabilus brand, made by Sachs. Rock Auto carries them for less than USD $20.00 each. The advantage of the Stabilus struts is that they have special valving which reduces their tension when fully compressed, so they apply less force on the ball studs when the hood and trunk are closed. This may be important on the aluminum-bodied Jags.
