Default Coolant smell; where to look?

There is a slight coolant smell coming from the grill area after a run. I read on this post that coolant tanks can crack with age. Where should I look specifically? The tank seams and coolant ports? Does the coolant leave a pinkish residue?

The plastic nipple on the top of the coolant tank is notorious. I have gone through 2 of them.

Default Diagnosed

Bingo. It was the upper nipple. It had broken in two. The rubber hose was holding the whole thing together. The clamp had a purchase on the broken part of the hose only within the hose. There was a pink crust around the weep.
It looks like it will hold as is for now. I will monitor it. I may seal it with gasket sealant.
I plan to repair it with a brass 1/8 NPT to 5/16 hose barb.
Also a good time to measure coolant conductivity for corrosion protection.
To be continued.
