Crackling noise "What is it"?
 

I have a 2004 XJ8 with 63,000 miles on it.

I purchased it only a few months back.

I recenty noticed a Crackling noise when i press on the gas. Seems like its coming from under dash, on drivers side near door.

Its funny because I only hear it when the gas pedal is when I press the gas on. I heard it this weekend when I was passing hard on the freeway.

I was wondering if it could be from under hood just sounding like its coming from dash.

Any ideas?

Are you sure it's not pinging/knocking? It sounds like a gentle rattling when getting on the gas.

I have been told that there was a TSB about this, and an engine reflash will fix it. I have decided to live with mine now. I just keep it in sport mode as this seems to quiet the pinging down.

It may be that it just sounds like its coming from inside the car on the drivers side, couldnt get it to do it today! darn it so its not fresh in my mind.
