Default Cruise control unavailable...

Parked the car over the last winter, this message appeared in the spring. Decided to have a better look while I was servicing the air ride compressor today. Turned out there was a tan wire going to the sonar box beside the rad which had a nick in the wire. I pulled on it and it broke. Repaired using a crimp ring and shrink tube. Accidently turned the car on with the module un-pluged while I turned the steering wheel. Message still is being displayed..

Any idea of the wire purpose? Is it possible to reboot the cruise control without a scanner?

Search is your friend, my friend:

That's using "Jaguar x350 Cruise not available" - and I got at least a half dozen more on X100, X150 etc.

Good luck with the issue. Could be a basic, cheap repair such as break pedal switch - if luck is with you, wheel speed sensors, vacuum leaks, throttle body TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) on earlier cars or accelerator pedal position sensor on later cars) OR it could be the module, ranging from a couple hundred on eBay to several thousand. Wish I could give you a one size fits all answer but there are a few variables, to say the least. Let us know how you are getting along and we will try to help.

Battery good
Connections perfect at battery and ground to body in trunk.
Cleaned and fixed corrosion at the grounds near radiator.
Never seen a code with ABS or brakes.. Traction control works perfect and when slippery situations arrise then the symbol is illuminated on the dash.

Issue was intermittent, became frequent and then constant as soon as the car started to move. Now after the wire fix it is displayed on start up. Not sure if the shortening of the wire and the crimp has something to do with the change. Or if the turn key on with the module unplugged. A wiring schematic of the plug at the module on the front of the car would be nice. Looking for the function of the tan wire on the left hand side of the plug.
