Default Door problem with 2004 XJ8

All of a sudden the keyless entry (either of them) will not lock or unlock the car doors or trunk (it gives the "beep-beep" error sound). When I open one of the doors, I get a regular intermitent bing, bing, bing, bing as though I've left my keys in the ignition or there's some sort of error. When I use the key in the driver's side door, it does work, but it still gives me a beep-beep sound when locking. The car starts fine and shows no error codes.

Is this likely an issue with the keyless entry, or the ignition key sensor thinking a key's in there?

Just check that the little "door" on the ignition socket is not stuck open.

Yah, I fiddled with it some more once I suspected this to be the problem and it is that key door sticking open. Is there anything I can do to clean it and keep it from sticking? I'd be hesitant to spray WD-40 there.

I would think that a little spot of WD 40 would be ok
