drivers door external lock does not turn?

Anyone have any ideas why my drivers door external lock will not turn (not budge even a millimetre!!) and allow me access to the vehicle. It does not move a little in either direction.

The key works ok in the boot (trunk) lock and i have no issues with the keyless entry fobs.
