Driver's seat won't auto-recess-it forgot how?
In re. my '04 XJ8, the other day I moved the driver's seat back and forth (key removed from ignition) a few times as I searched for a credit card that had fallen down between the console and seat cushion. Well, I found the credit card but now the driver's seat won't automatically slid back when I open the front door to egress. Somehow, it has "forgotten" this helpful feature.
I have checked to make sure the steering wheel/pedal adjustment knob is in the auto position; so that's not the problem.
Is there a DIY method to re-set this feature? Last time this happened (a year or two ago), the service technician did "something" and restored the feature at no charge to me.
Any advice will be helpful. Thanks.

Disconnecting the battery will zero your fuel trim adaptions, but they are always adjusting to your driving anyway. No reason for concern about the OBDII data. You will have to re-initialize the windows for one touch operation, the parking brake and put your radio back on station.
Battery disconnection is always the first step when an electrical feature acts strange.

results?
I'm also interested in this one. Mine has been doing the same thing since a trip to the dealer to repair the "auto" function of the windshield wipers.
(I've been trying to convince myself it's a good thing because I'm no longer crunching the feet of people in the back seat if they don't clear the foot well prior to me opening the driver's door).

seat ok but steering whell don't move
Hello ,
Mine is ok for the seat recess when ignition cut ( even if seat motor is noisy compared to passenger side ) , but steering whell don't move
Thought is was because i am nearly on the upper posiiton of the steering whell , but the axial position is far from the dasnboard , so should move back ?
will try to change memory position to see if it help ( not so confident to disconnect battery ! )
Thanks
