Gear Box Fault
:icon_dance-tap:In my 2004 XJ8 the Gear Box Fault light went on and my car went into limp mode. I took it into my jag mechanic and he said it needed a new transmission or at least a rebuilt one which would be a minimum of $3500. He advised me to take it to his transmission guy, Pacific Driveline who was an honest straight talking technician. His shop happens to be down the hill from me so after trying to sell the car in as is condition and getting no takers I figured I have to get it repaired before I could sell it. Late at night when there was not much traffic I cruised it down the hill to his shop and left it for him to check it out in the morning. He called me the next day and had good news for me. He found there was a leak in the transmission pan and that there was no transmission oil. He filled it up, the Gear Box Fault light went out and the car drives like it had a new tranny. It cost me $350 for a new tranny pan & filter. I can't believe that there is no LOW TRANSMISSION OIL light in a this car. I haven't seen any blogs on this tip for Gear Box Fault. Hopefully this helps a fellow jaguardian.

Hello Everibody,I've been trying to buy a boat tow bar for my Jaguar XJ (x358) for two years without success. I'm considering new and used anywhere on the planet, but I'd prefer if they were in Europe. Please advise.

A strange thread, ongoing as it is since 2015.
1) I've just had my transmission oil changed at (100k km/ 62k miles/ 15 years), because people say you should change it. I hope not to find out why. 2) Jaguar say that you need a special towbar. I say BS. Not that I have a towbar on my Jag, but if I did then I'd go to the nearest competent towbar specialist. (I did that for my Honda Van so don't need the Jag for towing) The X350/X358, if it has air suspension, automatically compensates for "extra weight in the boot" or an unbalanced tow-load, or you can always balance the tow-load as you should. I don't understand the Owners Handbook, well yes I do. Parts of it are just marketing crap. |
Real money is in part sales, & the service dept.
Sale of the vehicle is just the biginning. |
