Headlight Aiming Technique??
The headlights on our '06 appear to direct the light too low to the ground; not enough of the road is illuminated.
I've located all four adjustment screws, which I assume are for the up / down adjustment. My question is how do you know just how high to set the beam. Is there a standard distance from the ground to which the center of the beam (highest intensity of light) should be set?
Having pulled the car up to a wall to make the adjustments, I can see the very definite line cast by the xenon headlamps but I'm just not sure what the standard height from the ground the line should be and at what distance from the wall the car should be? Also, is there an adjustment for side-to-side aiming?
I guess my real question is: Is there a standard technique for adjusting all 4 headlamps?
Usually I find that someone has already answered most questions I have for this car, but I did a search for this and couldn't find anything on this topic.
Thanks for any help.

Before you adjust, (if you have auto-leveling...an 06, surely you do?) make sure the auto-leveling arm is connected to the rear lower control arm (driver side). I found mine disconnected a few weeks ago.
Good thought! I did check and in fact it is connected. Thanks.
It's interesting that with all the threads about headlamps, bulbs, etc, that I haven't seen any reference to just how to aim the headlamps. Leads me to think maybe one simply must aim the lights visually; somewhat of a 'hit & miss' method.
Thanks again!

I'm really surprised both are aimed low. You might just prefer them higher than factory setting. I'd get it up against a wall/garage, and adjust them up 1" each, and drive for a few days. Don't make big swings at it. A small adjustment like that can be HUGE on actual road application. Make sure most of the light still stays on the pavement, that's more important than illuminating the interior of that car in front of you...in fact, that's how I adjusted my jeeps new HIDs, I took it out of the driveway, and parked it behind a relatively 'average' height car...and if the cutoff stayed just below the back glass...it was good.
Good luck.
Good luck.
I think the stock headlight position is low, but I think it safer not to blind other and have them run off the road or hit you
I just use the highs when no one is around and I think they are bright enough to see China!
