The solenoid valve will be located on the Mechatronic assembly inside the gearbox, so I think it's time to visit a ZF specialist. Not a DIY job I think.

It may be a matter of replacing the solenoid but first you need to be able to identify it,
and the confidence to remove mechatronic and replace it.

Hello Fellows, sorry for the late reply, I was off on a holiday and just came back. I thought it may be useful to everyone to attach the diagnostic report as conducted at the Jaguar dealership which highlights in yellow the fault codes # P0750 & P1605. They also tried to upgrade the transmission software but they could not due to failure code # 2573. (Attached you may find the diagnostic report)

I believe that explains and illustrates the problem much better than I would. Please come to the rescue ...thanks in advance.

UPDATE: I also diagnosed the car at the dealer and yhey recommended to change 3 ignition coils that were misfiring according to their software diagnostics , i changed them and the car ran smooth for couple of days but still stuck in limp mode 3 rd or 2nd gear only and still does not shift , but unfortunately now it is misfiring again ! Bearing in mind that I did not repair nor address the transmission fault codes P0750 and P1605 yet ....

The codes are indicating a fault in the transmission control module which is inside the gearbox.

I suggest you take it to a good gearbox specialist.

It might be too late but I suggest checking the seal where the transmission wiring plugs into the case. It is known for them to spring a leak and adulterate the connectors. The seal is cheap and relatively easy to change. Before committing to a major expense - like changing the transmission, I would do the transmission fluid change, replace the seal mentioned above as well as the tube seals under the Mechatronix unit (very easy to remove). It solved all of my transmission problems for less than $500. If you get as far as removing the Mechatronix, you might consider replacing that solenoid. ZF are very responsive to eMail and can direct you to the solenoid that needs changing. The problem may be that debris is blocking an internal oilway in the valve body or getting in the way of solenoid operation in which case a rebuilt valvebody might be the most cost effective solution. Whatever you do I strongly advise you contact ZF and explain symptoms in detail

Thanks a lot for the thorough technical feed back. I will certainly take it into consideration and pass the same to the ZF technician in charge . Hopefully the issue won't be major ... fingers crossed ...
