Help with replacing Jag Steering Rack

Hi Parts guys, I am looking for help with replacing a steering rack on an 06 xj8 Long Base. I don't have the car yet but trying to get parts around to replace it as soon as I can. So I can't confirm the part number BUT i found the SNG Barratt reference that claims my part number should be C2C38669

Almost every rack I find online either used or refurbished claim the rack fits any xj8 from 04 to 07, but they all list the part number as C2C29622

Anyone know which is correct ?

Also a local shop just refused to do the rack job saying it might have steering sensors or other electronics that will need to be programmed by jag or it might need to be vin matched - does anyone know if this is true ? I just assumed it was a bolt off - bolt on - then alignment job

Thanks for any help

Thanks Joe, I needed to act on an auction for one, so I called my closest Jag dealer (4 hours away) and they confirmed both part numbers will work for the American 2006 x350. The C2C38669 is the current part #, but the other one was a previous number that also fits. In fact there are 4 different numbers that fit .

But the service manager was out on vacation - so I was not able to determine if the jag will need to be programmed by the dealer after rack swap - parts manager thought the older 06 most likely is too old to need any programming.- fingers crossed

Bigger picture - I am hoping the rack in my car is an anomaly, having a problem at 80,000 miles. I opted to buy a used rack instead of a rebuilt one (btw jag dealer quoted $4,000 for new rack). I have a chevy tahoe with 200k miles, a cadilliac with 180k, a volvo with 250,000 miles and have had 2 minivans with high mileage and never had a rack leak or fail.
