Default Info on scan tools, please / Talking to X350 OBDII

I'm really new to these tools. Are there any that give me access to jag specific codes and the ability to set/reset stuff? For example, could I install OEM TPMS sensors and the tell the car to read their IDs?

Somebody please direct me to information on the types of systems available.

Thanks

I use AutoEnginuity with the enhance Jaguar module and it is ok.

However, I will be upgrading to the Mongoose JLR (I put an order for the real thing $$$) and will build an IDS/SDD laptop.

If you want to do Jag specific programming on your 2006 XJR, then there are only a few options:

AutoEnginuity, with the Jaguar EI11 package, it's a standalone item.

JLR ST512 from Maverick Technologies

SDD software, with a suitable interface; Drewtech Mongoose, or Ford VCM2
(this is two separate things, the software, and the interface)

You might also be able to use a WDS, if you can find one.

Have a look at these two threads https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...an-tool-66558/ and https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...-%2A%2A-33347/

Default Talking to X350 OBDII

Are there any good programs/setups that use one of the USB-to-OBDII scanner cables to hook to my laptop? Any software that works particularly well with these cars? I'd especially like something that would allow me to reflash the transmission if that's available in something other than a non-Jaguar computer. I'm only shopping for my car right now so it'd be nice if I could take it along with me and scan for codes, when I go to look at a car.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Darel

Darel,
You will find a very detailed discussion on this link.

The best device is the Mongoose produced by Drew Tech, albeit rather expensive ($600), working with IDS-SDD V131 and calibration files. The chinese clones are an attractive and cheap ($45) option but you have to be careful with the installation of the software (they include an updated IDS-SDD, currently V134) and driver, and you better purchase separately V131 on ebay.
Good luck!
