Default intermittent CATS

04 XJR 40,000
This all started after replacing the front shocks with Arnot shocks.
When CATS appears the car rides hard or bouncy.
The compressor appears to be working fine.
It is like it has to much pressure.
I have 5 volts to all shocks and sensor have resistance.
Went to have the codes read and none appeared.
Can any one shed some light on how to correct this issue?
Thanks
Sammy

All I can say is that someone in the UK had this problem, so it has happened before but I never found out what the cure was-sorry.

Possibly disconnect battery leads and touch together?

Check the electrical plug that plugs into the top of the shock. I remember reading that it sometimes does not connect fully.

Hi Sammy,

My understanding is that the default status for the shocks/dampers is "Firm," and that the system sends a 5V pulsed and dithered 400Hz signal to the shocks to set them to "Soft" mode. See the thread below in which Cambo351 shows the shape of the signal on a scope:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...uestion-76476/

The electrical connectors at the shocks are underengineered and the wiring harnesses are thin and easily damaged. My guess is that you either have a connector that is not making good contact (perhaps it is loose or one of the little pins is bent), or you have a loose or damaged wire in the harness.

Cheers,

Don
