Key Fob Working Intermittently
 

Hello All,


The key fob for my 04 XJR stopped working entirely a few days ago. I replaced the battery and it still would not lock/unlock my car. I then attempted to reprogram the fob and it now works only once every few minutes.


For instance, I can go up to the car, hit the unlock button, and the driver's door will unlock. However, if I try to lock my car with the fob immediately afterwards, it will not respond. I, very strangely, have to wait another ~10 minutes to use one other function on the key fob.


Would replacing the fob with a new one from EBay solve the problem, or could this be caused by something wrong on the car itself? I only have one key/fob combination right now. Thank you.

The little buttons inside the fob are worn and sluggish. I purchased the replacement section on E_Bay for about $32. Found programming instructions on line and it worked first time through. also learned how to program key to your liking. programming involved open passenger door, flipping of high beams and a series of beeps. depends on your model. Saved at least $300 over dealer charges. I have 2006 xj8l.
