Default Looking at 2006 xjr

Hey everybody just wanted your input on a 2006 xjr I'm looking at. It has right at about 65000 miles. 3 owners, looks good in pics. Really no service records besides the carfax which just says engine checked at jag dealership around 40000 miles. It also has 245/40/19 instead of the 255. Asking 19,988.00. What you guys think would be fair if everything checks out. Thanks a million.

price appears to be high. Dealer prices 16Kmax for above average condition, and perhaps 13K for private sale. This data from Edmunds. you could check other sites as well.

I have a 2004XJR and its a great car, but I had all the service records and personally knew the second owner.

Lack of service records is a serious No-No, so price needs adjusting for this as it represents considerable extra risk if you buy it. OK, dealer has probably given the car a $200 dollar valet, but you can't conceal lack of service.

When you have a situation like this, a test drive is an absolute must. No internet purchase !!

I have the same car. Overall it's terrific. I had an '01 and actually preferred the older body style but the "newer" models are lighter (aluminum) and have more headroom.

One concern is the air suspension. My car had no indication of a problem until the cold weather hit. I ended up replacing the front struts. Other stuff that's problematic: window switches on drivers panel. Auto down will stop working because constant use breaks the bottom of switch box and allows the entire switch to move down when pushed. Not a big deal, and fixable. Make sure the sunroof works and does not stick when closing.

Good luck

Fully agree here with Fraser. If your really licking your chops, have the car driven to a Jaguar dealership and pay for them to do a complete inspection including a drive. Jag dealerships are trusted/ reputable and have the expertise you need and want. The inspection would be on your dime of course, but money well spent. They can "rate" the car on a scale for you. They can test drive the car and tell you how the car performs against like make/ model/ year. You should of course also test drive and your best option is to ride with them.

The car is too old to be certified by the dealer, but you can ask them to follow their certified pre owned assessment process to confirm its condition and value. Personally, there are enough of these available with complete records but if for your own reasons, you want that particular car, IMHO, this is the only viable option. No Jag dealership nearby would be a deal breaker for me.

Price is high. I use NADA to guide me:-0 Best of luck

Thanks for y'all's input. I'm thinking same thing. I've owned two jags in the past a 1986 xj6 and a 1993 xj6. Both under my care. I know this 06 xjr is another ball game though.
