My 99 XJ8 serpentine belt came off!!!
I started my car after being parked for 10 days and drove about a half mile when suddenly my dash light indicated my battery is not receiving charge then lost my power steering and stability control, after stopping and looking at the engine my car was overheating and leaking coolant, I then noticed my serpentine belt was off, after putting it back on it now has extra slack does anyone know what happened? Could this be due to a seized up tensioner?

Afyer further examination I noticed my crankshaft pulley is locked up Idk if it should rotate while the car is off but it seems to be the only wheel not turning in the belt routing. If I'm correct does anybody know the cost of repair? Or if it would be easy to fix myself?

Hmmm, overheating n coolant loss makes belts slip off easily. Hard to say in what order did the events occur. Make sure tensioned pulley is still 'tensioning' and your idler pulley is still in place. Other than that, the belt routing could be off when you put it back. Crankshaft pulley rotates w/ engine rotation only.

The crankshaft pulley will turn if you apply enough force.
