The Mystery Beeps

I am not sure if this was a smart move but I had an after market alarm put in my 2004 XJ8. I got nervous because I always see finger prints on and around the exterior body of the car. Now, every time the car is started about three seconds later two short quick beeps are heard. This is starting to get annoying. Besides taking the alarm out and running a diagnostic, what other options do I have? I don't know if this is a correct assumption but I am assuming the beeps are related to the installation of the alarm because the beeping started after the alarm installation. Is it possible that the problem could have been caused by something other than the alarm?

You guys are
much appreciated,
Darryl

You do not give much information on how your aftermarket alarm was installed. Did you disable the OEM alarm?

I did not install the alarm an auto alarm shop installed the alarm. No i have not disabled the alarm. I have been slow about that because if the problem stops after the alarm is disabled then i would have to take out the alarm. I would be back in the same situation concerning my nervousness because the car is being tampered with on a regular basis.

did you not realise the car already had the original alarm system anyway ??

Yes i am aware of the pre existising inherent alarm, but it is not sensitive enough because i would be in close proxsimity to the car but in a building, never hear the alarm, come out to the car and see the finger prints. I just want to make people think twice about messing with the car and let them know the car is well secured.
Peace,
Darryl
