Default New Owner of a 2009 Jaguar XJ Portfolio

I just bought myself a 2009 Jaguar XJ Portfolio, Celestial Black with Navy, 14,500 miles. What a great and rare car! Who else has one?

Can you share price and mileage?

You have an impressive garage.

Enjoy the ride and bragging rights.

The car has 14,500 miles and I bought it from a private party in Illinois - the owner passed away and I was able to get it at a steal (I think) because it was listed on Autotrader under Jaguar "other makes", not as a XJ - so very few people knew it was for sale. I paid $39,500, but I think it is worth closer to $50k considering the low mileage. What do you guys think?

Obviously you got a very nice car, but I wouldn't have called the price a "steal". It sounds about the right price for a 2009, which is 5 years old. However, enjoy the car and if it pleases you the price is irrelevant, really.

Congratulations on the purchase. They are fast, luxurious machines.

I own an Astral Gold colored one with 12,800 miles.

I have one too. 15K miles - price is about right. Enjoy anyway.

There was a portfolio listed at a few weeks back at a jaguar dealership in Florida with 4,000 miles listed for $53k and within 1 day of being posted it sold - they told me it went for $50k.

Key to the price difference here is the vendor was private, so no warranty given or implied and the buyer buys on the basis "as seen and tested". A Jaguar main agent will always be able to sell an equivalent car for more money as the warranty is in the price.

Over in the UK these 358 Portfolios are very scarce and if they do turn up never seem to fully equipped whereas in the US they always seem to be fully loaded, e.g moon roof (we call them sun roofs) rear business trays rear entertainment centres etc etc. I first saw a Youtube video from a US based dealer called Gulf Stream Motors (Florida I think) and thought the car was simply the best version of a 358 I have seen. I liked the navy coloured leather piped with ivory. I tried to find one in the UK but they are like hen's teeth, impossible to find. Bought a nice 358 XJ Sovereign but a Portfolio would have been nice. Some photos of my car. Hope you like.

Default Price was not important...

Actually, it lasted less than 1 hour from their posting on AutoTrader by Jag/LR/Audi of Ft. Myers, FL.
It sold for $52,900. No haggling, I wasn't going to lose this car.
It has a 3-year Jaguar factory warranty on it now.
It had both front air shocks replaced by the dealer as well as a brand new set of Michlein Pilot Super Sport tires.
It is in pristine condition.
It had 3,995 miles on it when traded-in by (NASCAR) Rick Hendrick's fleet manager, 4,016 when it rolled off the transporter in Colorado.
And, most importantly, it's in my garage and I absolutely love the car. What a machine!
As Fraser pointed out, price for this car was not important to me, the car itself was.
BTW - I tried to get your car, too, but the seller would never respond. I assume you were already working a deal with him by the time I tried to contact him.
A few pics are under my photos. Once I figure out how to do a Garage, I'll add more.

Congratulations to both of us on our new cars. I am very pleased with my purchase and happy to have the car in my garage. I had a tough time reaching the seller of my car too - the son in law was handling it for his father in law and didn't seem to care all that much to get the deal done. Also, You can add photos to your garage by scrolling above and next to your name - it says "garage is empty - add now" - click there and it will allow you to add pics.

Congrats to both of you on a couple of great cars!

jbarkow - That Jeep seems out of place in your garage, unless it's to haul parts for the E Type or the Triumph. ;-)
