Default XJ8L maintenance

I just picked up an '05 XJ8L with 63k miles. I looked at the thread above to find some of the maintenance items I should take care of and I'll be having the trans fluid and filter done along with the reflashing if what I'm feeling is the lurching mentioned. It's minor, but feels a little bit lurchy at times.

I also noticed that around curves at decent speed, bumps upset the steering a bit more than I feel comfortable with. I'm thinking about the Arnott coil over kit and just take care of the suspension preemptively and while I'm in there, I'm curious what other bits I should be swapping or at least taking a close look at. I could picture it being a good time to swap tie rod ends, ball joints and bushings. Thoughts?

Am I being overly presumptuous thinking that it would be a good idea to swap out the bushings and such at 63k miles?

Depends David, on previous owners care and maintenance and usage / roads in the area I guess.

I had my front and rear suspension bushes done on mine at around 62k so definitely worth checking as you're in there anyway

Thanks, Jim, I'll look around for the source of bushings . It seems they are a bit hard to find so it would be wise to buy some before sources dry up.

There's a thread running in the X358 section, gives so much info

I'm pretty sure that the bushings are available from SNG Barratt ( from sponsor that gives member discounts too )

There are other sources too I'm sure and others will chime in

Not sure if you're doing some / all of the work yourself?
Or perhaps getting someone to do it for you......As you say, either way you're in that area anyway and have done 90% of the teardown so why not, especially f she's going to be a keeper for several years.

Good luck

My brother has a hoist and a host of tools most people could only dream of. I'd probably try to DIY with some assistance from him.

ebay is where I started my search, but lately, I've been a little more concerned about the parts suppliers on there.

Thanks again, I'll do some digging around about sources, that won't be an issue, but thanks for the nudges in the right direction.
