Premium sound identification
 

Ok, sorry all as this is probably more obvious then it appears. I believe that I have the standard audio system but I read in a thread that if you have a navigation system you have the premium sound system. I don't have Alpine logos on my speaker grills and don't have a CD changer but I do have navigation. How do I identify? Is there something obvious (alpine logos on grills may be the obvious answer).

My follow up question will be related to iPod connectivity which appears possible with a CD changer and the PIE AI-Net adaptor. What I haven't determined is if I can still add the PIE adaptor in the absence of a CD changer.

It can be confusing because different names are used as well.

The standard sound is called Premium.
The uprated sound system is called Audiophile.

In the tone settings, do you have an adjustment for Subwoofer? Do you see a button on the audio screen that says DSP?

If yes, you have the Audiophile, if no, it's just the regular sound system.

Now to figure out my upgrade options.

The factory sound system works on D2B not Ai-Net.

It's exactly the same system used in the X-Type and S-Type, but not the XK's...

Been a while since I looked into it, but I believe some of the X-Type guys have come up with a solution for iPod, maybe have a look in the X-Type section.

The Jaguar CD-changer emulator was called the ACM, Audio Connectivity Module, but it wasn't cheap and i'm not sure it's still available to buy new.

It probably uses SPDIF for the audio signal and the emulator probably uses D2B to fool the stereo into thinking it's playing a track. It makes me wonder what I could do with Arduino... Hrmmm.
