Stupid question
This is probably a stupid question, but here goes... The owner's manual states there are 2 accessory power points in a '06 vanden plas--one on the back of the center consol (back seat), and another in the glove box. The manual warns not to use the cigarette lighter for accessories. Neither of accessory power points are convenient for plugging in the cell phone charger. I've always used the cig lighter in other cars for the phone charger. Is it okay to use the cig lighter for this purpose in the VDP??

I don't know if it's OK, but I know it works. That's what I've used in my 06 Super V8 without any problems that I am aware of. My son always has something plugged into the rear console, so the lighter is the only I am allowed to use. ;)

I actually think it's a great question, and thanks for the info Charlie! Why are the dedicated ports supposed to be more appropriate? I can't imagine. Maybe because they don't have ashes in them ;)

Thanks for the info, Charlie.

I agree with Charlie, 12vdc is the same where ever it comes from and the cigar lighter is much more convenient for my radar detector.

I believe the accessory ports are12V all the time while the cig. lighter looses power with the key off.
