What did you do to your X350/X358 today?
 

A lot of the other models have this kind of a thread and I always enjoy reading what people have done to their cars, whether its something mundane like replacing a bulb or some big mod like new wheels or new paint. I thought it might be interesting to start a thread like that here in our neck of the woods.

I'll start it off...today I removed all the LEDs I had in the interior lights, and put the old stock bulbs back in. I had the white LEDs installed for a long time, but recently I've found myself wanting more of a old-school warm feeling.

I ordered the speakers, amp and head unit slated for audio replacement.

Hand washed the car for the first time yesterday. Had the car since December, so it's a big deal for me to finally get up close while I wash the Jag with care.

Box, are you putting in new OEM stuff or aftermarket?

I didn't do anything to her today, just drove her around a 340 mile round trip, enjoyed some stunning scenery and really enjoyed driving my baby.
She was all clean n looking good anyway so it'd be rude not to.

Unfortunately after all those miles there were more than a few dead flies / bugs etc on the windshield and bumper, the wheels had a light covering of brake dust and some splash marks up the sills.

Around 6pm was so tempted to clean her, but managed somehow to resist, she'll get cleaned again tomorrow.

Paint shop on Thursday morning for some remedial work, possibly freshening up the paint on hubs / calipers at the weekend then into the detailers for 2-3 days as of around Tuesday the following week

Disabling radio sense in the body module for alarm system operations.

Then AVIC-8200NEX, Polk DB speakers front and rear, Pioneer 3.5" for dash presence. Polk 5 channel Class D, pair of Tang Band 6.5" subs in deck.

I'll change the op-amps to Burr-Brown OPA-1602, and all signal caps to ELNA silk in the Polk amp. I'll get 24bit/192k, time alignment, DSP 13 band, NAV, CarPlay, capacitive screen (touch squeeze and drag like phone) Bluetooth, DVD...etc.

Nothing. I'm in Houston working and it's sitting at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the Park-Ride row 26A waiting on me to get back on Thursday.

Funny think is that there's another person who frequently parks there with the same exact car as mine. Same color and everything. They've tried to drop me off at his car a few times.

Replaced both A pillar interior trim moldings. Replaced both outside C pillar trims, the anodized aluminum ones. Mine were stained and water spotted. Still need a 19" chrome wheel to replace a very slightly bent one. The stock wheel for a Super V/8. My car is Metallic red so I installed red Jaguar center caps on the wheels.

I rarely do anything to my car, it sits in my garage 5 days of the week, i put put around 3,500 miles on it, had it for about 10 monhts. I took it to Pacific Grove, Carmel, and Pebble Beach this pass weekend :).

I opened the doors, checked the dehumidifier I have sitting inside (comes on for 3hrs a day) ... dry. Closed the doors and locked the car.

I shall probably take it out for run on Monday which is a public holiday over here.

Dropped off at the paint shop for some remedial work, also dealing with a small patch of corrosion on the leading edge of the front passenger door whilst it's there.
Should only be a few days, but like a prisoner without her sitting outside ready good to go at a moments notice.

Depending on a few issues we're dealing with at the moment and the weather, I may elect to either get my hubs and calipers freshened up in time for the meet, and or, try to get on with my sound deadening project

All that I did was to start the 2005 Jag XJ8L, activate the air conditioning, fill the tank with premium, and drive over to my parents' place today.

Over the weekend, I tore into my brakes again. New Beck/Arnely rotors, Jurid pads, new caliper brackets and bolts. On the test drive I was getting a terrible knock while braking which you could hear and feel. Tore everything apart again and discovered that I had greased up the mating surfaces between the hub/rotor/wheel too much. We're literally talking about less than a millimeter or two of grease, which was enough to throw off the balance of the wheels. Crazy. So I cleaned everything up and went for a spirited drive through the Angeles Crest Highway. All is well.

Today I'll be throwing on new Brembo rotors and Pagid pads on the rear.

Came back from a 2 week trip to Cape Cod. Car behaved impeccably.

Waiting for wife to pick up mail where I should have a new heater coolant pump.

Then I will swap the Bosch upgraded pump I mistakenly placed in the position of the heater pump with the new heater pump and replace the old super charger coolant pump with the Bosch upgraded pump.

...wiped Sunday's brake dust from the wheels.

Well after I completed my sound deadening project yesterday, my Jaguar logo plates arrived so onwards with my car mat mod

I took the Jaguar logo plates and inserted them into my new mats for a specific and pretty cool modded look, well pleased.
She was given a thorough wash, clean and engine bay detailing today, even though she's going in to the detailers tomorrow for 2-3 days of machine polishing.
It will be a 2 stage process of swirl removal and protection and should really lift her another level or two.

It's a pointless exercise almost as the detailer will have to clay bar the entire car and then wash / dry thoroughly prior to any of this work, but i feel better nonetheless....lol

I slapped on new rotors and pads on the rear, and let me tell you...what an amazing difference. Braking is easy and effortless. Lesson learned: just because most braking is done with the front, don't ignore the rear!

I'm loving these Jurid and Pagid pads. I can see why so many of the top manufacturers use them as OEM suppliers. I will never use ceramic pads on my car.
