When getting off gas and braking, transmission clunk?
#22
I have found it is possible to get harsh, "clonky" changes at low speed, such as braking for a RH turn, stopping momentarily, then immediately going onto the throttle to make the turn, can cause a clonk action.
I have assumed it is a feature rather than a bug, as I used to get ocasional similar changes with my Rover 75 which had a Jatco 5-speed autobox. So to relieve it, I am just more delicate on the throttle until I can feel the drive is taken up. Yes, I know, these things shouldn't happen !

The strange this is the clonk, for me, has little to do with any action I take. Rather, it happens when the transmission decides to go in/out of lockout mode (or at least that's my perception).
But yes, many of the things on this car have me saying that this car has a lot of features, not problems.

I wonder if what I've been experiencing is similar?

Mine mostly seems to emit a "clunk" noise whenever you engage or disengage the throttle - also occasionally when it is quickly upshifting after letting off the gas. I've noticed too that when going highway speeds, if you really lay into the gas and get a couple gear downshift it seems to "slam" into the lower gear. Does that sound similar to what an ECU trans update might fix? Or does that seem more mechanical? In the two years I've owned my car, honestly it hasn't gotten any better or worse. I've considered doing a trans flush but the dealer didn't feel it was necessary yet.
