Whistling brakes?

Need to confirm I’m on the right track.... on my 08 XJ, when braking, I get a whistle from under the dash. If I force the pedal to the floor, the whistle stops. Anything less then full pedal, I hear a faint whistle. Curious if I have a bad booster, or a leaking master, bad hose from the booster, or all? My guess is that since I hear it in the car, it’s probably a booster. Go!

anyone know if 04-08 are the same? I hear 06-08 are different from 04-05....

Have you checked the rigid plastic hose to the booster?

Hi phatcat67,

A good place to answer questions like this is jaguarclassicparts.com, the parts service of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust. There, you can look up exploded parts diagrams, part names and part numbers. Frequently, VIN ranges are listed so you can tell if the same part fits an '04 and '08 or not. It just takes a little searching.

Cheers,

Don
