Default XJR - what years?

What were the last years was the XJR available? I am looking to get one and prefer 2008 or 2009 but I can't find any for sale. I know the Super V8 was available through 2009 but prefer the short wheel base. Thanks!

Likewise, I prefer the SWB version. There are never many for sale because just 98 X358 XJRs were made; dealers seem to try to grab any advertised and then offer them at a king's ransom. If it's any consolation, the last time I checked, every one of the 98 still existed.

I believe a lot of gremlins were worked out starting in 2006 MY. I have a 2005 that I love, but if I had to do it again I'd be looking for a 2006 or newer.

I don't think that I would bother with this site; it's peppered with factual errors, such as:

"1997 - 2003 This was the first supercharged version of the XJR. The engine was a straight-6 with a turbocharger which resulted in a massive 326 hp. This is also the first turbocharged Jaguar in the company's history and only the second to use forced induction after the XJ220. After this, all XJRs were turbocharged but they were upgraded to V8s"

1 of 98 means its going to be a tough find! I am pondering the option of getting a SWB XJ8 instead since they will be easier to find with low miles. I just don't know if I will only end up wanting an XJR still.

BTW @Etypephil where did you get those numbers? Do I have to go with a Super V8 to get an 09?

I just want a well taken care of car that I can continue to take care of and enjoy. Not looking to inherit a problem car, but I have driven a few versions of the XJ and I love it! Perfect daily driver while keeping mileage low on my R8.

There aren't huge numbers of any X358 around; it was a great car, but a greater secret, so nobody bought them. The production figures are from Jaguar, the survival ones from https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/

You may struggle to find a 2009 Super V8; according to the site, there is only one! https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicl...o#!manufacture

The n/a car is no slouch, but the supercharged one is stonking, and a grands worth of smaller supercharger pulley and bespoke remap shove it well into supercar performance territory.

Maintenance is everything; don't worry too much about miles, I have seen plenty still good with well over 200,000 miles behind them. Be patient, selective, and don't pay ridiculous dealer asking prices; £12,000 should buy a fully kitted, faultless example with few owners and plenty of proper history.

My 2008 XJR just past 37,000 miles. Maybe after I am dead it will be for sale. I like it MUCH more than later XJs and Xfs I have driven.

You could always get a 2007 & just swap the front and rear bumpers

I would consider selling my 2009 XJ Portfolio with 24k Miles. This is the car to own!
