I like the chrome factory 16" wheels on my Daimler 6 3.2

But a nice set of XJR 18x8.5 wheels are available

I am a little allergic to low-profile tyres having had to replace 2 Renault Laguna alloys in the UK because they ended up kidney-shaped from Surrey potholes on the A25 in winter 2009/10 (17 x 225/45 tyres), and I am a fan of 55 to 60 profile tyres on NZ roads.

So my Daimler 6 has 225/60 x 16 tyres which ride just fine

Has anyone got experience of changing from 16" rims to 18" XJR rims?

Also, is the 18 x 8.5 wheel take a standard 18 inch tyre, or is it an odd-ball (and expensive) tyre?

I have a set of 8J wide 18" as summer tyres on my X308, coming from a XK8. They are good, 255/40/R18 on them, the speed stability is better, I have to admitt that I killed 2 new tyres with them.
I use the original 16" with 225/60R16 as winter tyres.
