1996 xj6 4.0 Hot water hoses list
 

We're looking forward at pulling apart the throttle body, intake manifold(s) and EGR valve for cleaning soon and so we also need to replace all the hot water hoses while we're in there. The upper and lower radiator hoses are easy to look up, but others like the xxxxxxx hose we would need a reference number. Since we cannot see whats under the manifold(s), we don't know yet what other hoses are waiting for us. Is there a pdf available showing the hoses and their part numbers? Also, to pick your brains further, what gaskets should we pre order for this project?

Have a look at this website, you can find all the exploded diagrams and part numbers you need here. Then once you have the part number just google it and you will find many different suppliers.

As part of this project, you WILL be replacing the water rail hose (#4) and the TWO water rail gaskets (#2) while the intake manifold is off. These items reside directly under the manifold. This is the hose that is known as the Bast**d hose, or perhaps Devil hose, since its Dayco part number is 71666. It is extremely difficult to reach unless the manifold is off. It (and the gaskets) are a MUST-DO at this time!

Water rail hose: NBC2273AB
Water rail gaskets: EAC9745

Both should be readily available from multiple sources.

You also will be replacing the thermostat and gasket. DO NOT use an O-ring on the thermostat housing. Use gasket NBB2217AC.

Can't recall the vendor, but I found a kit containing all the hoses, save some of the small, 1/4" or 3/8" dia intake manifold hoses for a considerable discount vs. buying them individually. Sorry, in addition to not remembering the vendor, can't recall the price, either, but think it was in the $240 range. And the small ones not in the kit are simple - straight, not formed, so just buy a length of the proper diameter at the auto store and make them up.

I "found" this kit by doing a web-search on the individual Jaguar hose part numbers and happened to stumble onto it.

That should give you the full list. Some of those are indeed just normal hoses, although they are inexpensive enough to just get the right part and not have to worry. It should absolutely come in below $400+!

I would not hesitate to use URO, if OEM is too costly/not available, and obviously any other good aftermarket hose brand that you've heard of, Dayco, Goodyear, Continental. Make sure you know who's making it, and you should be fine. Quite frankly, other than the octopus hose, most other hoses will be easy to get to and replace.

The devil hose might be the only other hose I'd consider paying up for OEM.

I just remembered I was in the x300 forum. The post I referenced earlier was from the XJS forum and the hose list was pulled from the JDHT XJS database. The x300 may require different hoses.

OK, finally found my records....even so not an invoice. This is from January, 2016, and represents my findings of X300 coolant hoses available on the market at that time. I purchased the ones highlighted in yellow. I guess I was thinking of the Amazon kit when I posted a couple of weeks ago. What apparently slipped my mind is that the kit was missing a couple of the higher-priced ones. Likely those two that connect together with the funky twist-loc joint.

As backup for my memory, my android maintenance app contains a record dated January 25, 2016 titled "Renew Coolant Hoses" at mileage 106,026 at a cost of $292.58. The memo section says, "t-stat, all hoses, Zerex G 05, $292.58."
I'm certain that total includes the hoses and Zerex, I'm less certain whether it includes 12-15 gal of distilled water used in flushing out the old.

Why do you say TWO water rail gaskets? The pictures only show one.

I have made, what I hope, is a definitive document of the hoses you need for ALL versions of the X300.
I made this as I wish to change all my hoses on my XJR6, but couldn't find the list of which ones I would need.
When I asked britishparts for a quote for all of them, they only listed my 10. I had seen an American site that said I need 13. As it happens, if the web site is right, I need 14 but I am wondering about MNA4562AD and if it is really for XJR.

If anyone has any comments then please let me know!

The water rail requires two gaskets. There is also an outlet and gasket at bolt #3. They could have shown that, but they don't. In the fine print of the parts manual, it shows quantity of 2.

FYI there are actually 4 bolts that hold the rail on! Only one shown.

I had the same question about the V12 coolant ports and found that all 12 cylinders have an outlet port and gasket (although some of them are blanked off). The diagrams only show one gasket!
