By way of background, I have joined the forum to find information that will enable me to maintain (fix) my Dad's XJ6.
The car is a 1995 model in British Racing Green & was my Dad's pride & joy.
It also gives my mum a tangible link to my dad's memory - so it is important to me! (plus I now understand why my dad loved this car so much!)
We recently rescued the car from the bush fires, having moved it a few days before we lost the shed & everything in it (including original workshop manuals).
See pictures.....
During the rescue operation the car threw a belt & I had it flat topped to my home. I have since discovered that the rats in the shed had been feasting on plastic & rubber ! (explains the loss of belt)
I have tried to search & am unable to download the parts manuals as I use a work computer.
My first need is to identify which belts I need (I will replace them all).
Can anyone point me in the right direction to enable me to identify which belts I need to order?
So sorry to hear about your loss in the bush fires but so glad you were able to save your dads car.
Someone will be alone to tell you the belts you need, but for an online resource you can’t do much better than Jaguar themselves. https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com
Welcome to the forum. You'll find it not only a very useful resource, but an unusually friendly place, as well!
You didn't mention your location, but from the use of the terms, "mum" and "shed" as well as escaping the brush fire, I'm guessing somewhere in Australia? So not sure this will be all that helpful for obtaining parts, but at least you can ferret out the proper part numbers from it: Rock Auto has them, even a few on wholeseller closeout!
By your description and the picture of the car, you do not have the supercharger. If that is a correct assumption, you only need two belts. Frequently referred to as "Alternator" and "air conditioning." Plenty written here, with pics, on renewing them.
Good luck on the restoration, and keep us posted on your progress.
I am not familiar with the Jaguar parts sources Down Under, but there should be at least a couple of good independent Jaguar specialists and you can help yourself by looking up part numbers using the links Cafcpete provided. Try posting in your applicable Australian Regional forum to see if fellow members can recommend parts vendors:
