95 steering.

Hello. Have tried to remove my steering column to replace spring rod for the in-out movement. Have got a new rod, but can't get the column to come lose. Is there more than the 4 bolts holding it up there? Thanks
Paul

This may help to explain what you're at. From memory, there were certainly no more than 4 bolts and I think by only removing the front two, the column will drop sufficiently to allow access to the motor, item # 5.

Removing all 4 bolts should allow the entire shaft assembly to be removed, but remember to disconnect any wiring harnesses first. You will also find a plastic tie on the wiring running to the motor, which will have to be cut off and renewed. The motor itself just unclips, via the black spring housing that wraps around the shaft. You'll understand when you see it.

A firm tug/rattle/shake may be needed to dislodge the shaft, but disconnect the battery negative and wait a few minutes before doing so, just to allow the airbag to settle and reduce the risk of accidental deployment, unless you've already removed the airbag module.

Hope this helps.

sogood Thanks for info. I did see that if I remove the dash panel this will give access to the top of the motor also. Will try again.
