So my 96xj6l finally came back from the dead. Bought it from a guy. It needed a new computer and the fuel filter flipped back around. Engine now starts but I have to jump the fuel pump. When I crank car over the fuel pump isn’t giving the engine gas. If I don’t jump the pump it won’t start. Do I have a wiring issue or does the fuel pump need to be changed? Or something else.

when I turn over engine the fuel pump won’t start. But if jumped works fine.
There is one fuse other then the power to the pump and that is the relay control fuse . The ECU provides a ground to close the relay .The relay will click 3 tomes on 4 seconds - off - on in the starting sequence .

The main fuel pump relay is in the trunk electrical box, it is the one with the green base (green for go). You can try swapping it with its neighbor, the relay with the red base, which is for the high-mounted brake light (red for stop). Also, the king relay in the right-hand heelboard fuse box (the same kind of relay as in the trunk) is critical for fuel pump operation, along with that 5A fuse, as Lady P stated.
FYI, the right-hand heelboard location is at floor level, slightly under the front of the rear seat, behind the vertical panel, and is held on with one screw.
