Default 97 VDP Sunroof works, but how to autostop at full closed??

The sunroof operates OK, but there must be some trick I need to know with the switch, in order to get it to fully close by itself.

When the roof is open, I momentarily press the front of the switch, and it goes all the way to fully closed by itself, but doesn't stop there! It always continues and tilts open the roof.

The only way I have that works is to tap the button forwards and backwards, until the roof is in the flat position. But this takes getting in and out of the car after each press, to see if it 'looks' fully closed. (or takes two people!)

What am I missing?

I know if I hold the door key in the locked position for more than a second or so, the sunroof tilts open. Is there a similar case where I hold the key in the door a certain way to get the tilted roof to close?

I don't have functioning key fobs, in case they're involved in the answer.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
