Default ABS Speedometer Help! 1997 X300 XJ6

History
Initial problem was solid intermittent ABS light.
I disconnected module harness checked my ABS/speed sensors.
The problem got worse solid ABS light on start-up no speedometer.
I had the codes read came up with right rear speed sensor and ABS pump failure. Unfortunately, I did not get the corresponding code numbers.

I changed my ABS module and rear sensors. Initially the ABS light was off on start-up still had no speedometer. The ABS light came on after driving 20ft.

I am now back to the original solid ABS light and no speedometer.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I do have an ABS pump I did not install due to the module being the usual suspect.

Is it the Pump or the pump circuit?

The mechanic did not state the codes. I should have asked.
He said ABS pump failure
and right rear speed sensor.
Thank you.

Umm is the other needles working on the speedometer? On my 96 XJR my ABS Light was on and Trac is Off and my code was ABS Pump Circuit Failure (c1095) . I plan to take out my module and send it to repair somewhere in dec so im unsure if this will indeed fix the problems, but i did alot of research on this particular code and it seems like rebuilding the module has proven very successful.

First thing i would recommend is cleaning the wheel speed sensors
Heres a Link It should be similar for our x300, or maybe even easier.

The Speedometer operates from the LEFT REAR sensor! so clean that one up first and maybe it will solve your ABS Light and Speedometer

Second thing is since you already replaced the ABS module, was it with a brand new one? or another used one?
the abs module is known to fail in our cars and it is required to be rebuilt or re-soldered.

I believe the speedometer is driven by the left rear sensor, could he have been mistaken? It is very possible the connecting cable to the sensor has a internal break.

Don't worry about the pump circuit until you have the speedometer working again, it's usually just the solder joint to the pins that's bad, easily repaired.

My experience with C1095 is that your ABS light will be off on every start and come on after some small amount of driving (mine was more 30-50 yards than 20 ft. Whatever is killing your speedo is likely causing the ABS to stay lit all the time. But if you had the pump code...you are probably looking at a re-solder there; could be two problems.

Just for giggles....

Next time you have the sensors out stick a screwdriver in the hole and try giving the reluctor wheel a little wiggle. I had one come loose once. Gave some weird symptoms. Costs nothing to check .

Cheers

The parts were removed form another XJ6 in working order both rear sensors were clean. The ABS module as well. I checked all related fuses and replaced with new. Is there a relay gone bad I could be missing? I am at a loss I appreciate all the replies and advice

The sensors almost never fail. More common is a broken wire in the connecting cable due to flexing and old age.

It's a the cable that connects the sensor to the wiring harness, available from dealers, etc, or often on ebay.
