Default Back Window Issue - 95 XJ6

Hi everyone,

Well, apologies for newbie question - but, I'm sure its not the 1st. ;-)

1995 XJ6 - the right back window was rolled down and not will not go up. The left back window does not move at all. Front windows work well. When I try to move up the back window back up, I hear a clicky type sound in the switch/ in the right back door, but window does not move up.

This was no issue a few days ago. This is a car that I'm interested in. There is a good chance that the windows were not used in quiete a while, so not sure - sticky parts/ motors bad?

Any suggestions or tips? Kindly thank you fir your help or suggestion.

Could be that they just need exercise; I've had that happen and seen it on others. Near as I can tell motor failures are a bit rare on these.

You may have to remove the door trims to give everything a good lubing....and to help the window up.

Cheers
DD

check the window regulator, its a mechanical part that swings the window glass up ro down and it has a cable that runs around a plastic pulley, it might have jump off the plastic pulley or there might be a broken plastic part in that section. before going to that section you might want to check the fuses, the designation and location of the fuses is indicated on the tool utility box located on the right side of the engine compartment. I think the fuse is located on the rear passenger kick board, right underneath the seats, right side kick board fuse location for right side control and left side kick board for left side window

You might take the motor apart and spray with electrical cleaner. The motors are fairly solid on these cars. Probably just lack of use.

I did notice a similar issue on my '93 XJ40 . Right rear window occasionally doesn't move up neither you use the button on the driver's side nor right rear button moves it up . I stop the car and wait a few minutes and voila the window moves up as it is supposed to be
