Default Bank 1 Downstream Sensor Broken In Exhaust

As the title says, I had a bad downstream bank 1 o2 sensor and started to replace it. But shortly after the threaded part decided to break off in the exhaust.

How do I go about resolving this? Do I have to pull the entire downpipe? Please tell me there is a slightly less painful way to go about it.

I think removing the downpipe and working on it in a bench is probably the easiest way. It's not that bad to remove, I think it's only 4 nuts and then the connection a the other end of the pipe. I suspect the rusted part will only come out with heat.

The senors on these cars are different than most, they are 12mm thread, most others are 18mm. I think only Jaguar and Land Rover used this type of sensor.

The sensor is titanium based technology and a connector ready replacement is a Bosch # 13789

Not that the sensor base or shell is titanium but the sensor inside

the lower end of the down pipe will probably be stuck even after you manage to get the clamp off so I cut my pipe off with a cutting disk

On reassembly be careful not to deform the upper flair as the donut gasket seats and seals into ( this will affect your engine regulation )

the downward pointing studs on the exhaust manifold get in the way as you maneuver the down pipe , the manifolds must stay installed to remove the down pipe ( side clearance comes into play )

The downpipe studs have 15 mm nuts best accessed from underneath

Slight correction, it's titania, which is a platinum doped semiconduicting ceramic, not titanium the metal.

I feel doped as an atom out of place in the structure

Do you still have the original to see if it is a NO or NC labeled switch ?

The brake switch is actually 2 switches in 1 package and there is a change of part #
